ATLANTA AREA AUTISTICS: LISTEN UP
Autism Speaks is having their walk on May 20th at I believe Atlantic Station. Anyone interested in organizing and participating in a protest? The more people I can get in on this, the better, and I think this is something that needs to be done.
To raising Autism awareness and Acceptance, and battling negative stereotypes about Autism. To advocate for the inclusion of Autistic people in the community. To offer a forum to broadcast their voices, and to help the messages of Autistic people and non-Austistic allies reach the ears of as many…
Wait…why is this in November? Autism Awareness Month is April. Not to mention that we SHOULD be doing this every single day so the idea of a single day or month for it borders on absurd, because we really have no excuse for not speaking up every day.
I assume it’s not in April to distance itself from all the Autism Speaks-type BS going on that month. Though you’re right, we should be speaking up every single day. I know with me I make my feelings known when every the subject comes up. Then again I’m a pretty vocal person with certain things, and since that’s something that’s personally effected me I’m not going to stay silent.
